Volunteer – Information Designer

The Centre for Social Impact Technology (CSIT) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented volunteer Information Designer to assist in transforming complex information into visually compelling and easily understandable visual assets. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in helping CSIT effectively communicate its mission, projects, and impact to diverse audiences. You will collaborate with the Communications Manager and other team members to create visually engaging materials that convey information in a clear and impactful manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager to understand the information requirements and design objectives for various projects and initiatives.

  • Translate complex concepts and data into visually appealing and easily understandable infographics, diagrams, charts, and other visual assets.

  • Develop visually consistent and aesthetically pleasing templates and design guidelines for CSIT’s communication materials.

  • Work closely with the content creators and writers to ensure that the visual design aligns with the overall messaging and brand identity.

  • Conduct research to gather relevant data, statistics, and visual references to enhance the visual storytelling process.

  • Assist in designing presentation slides, reports, social media graphics, and other visual materials as needed.

  • Stay updated on current design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of CSIT’s visual communications.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or other comparable software.

  • Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail, layout, and typography.

  • Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise, and visually engaging visual assets.

  • Familiarity with data visualization techniques and an understanding of how to communicate data effectively through visuals.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse team.

  • A creative and innovative mindset with the ability to propose and implement fresh design ideas.

  • A strong work ethic and the ability to manage your own time effectively.

  • A commitment to CSIT’s mission and values.

This is an unpaid volunteer position that requires a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week. As a Volunteer Information Designer, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and passionate team, gain experience in visual communication for social impact, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
