Mizuki Oshita

Project Assistant

Mizuki is an international student originally from Japan. She began her educational journey in the Bachelor of Computer Information System program at Mount Royal University (MRU) in 2023. She is an MRU Social Work Diploma graduate in 2020, after which point she had been working for over 2 years in the homelessness and addiction field. Mizuki is now Projects Assistant at the Centre for Social Impact, bringing her social work background and passion in systems-thinking perspective. Her experience in systems-thinking stems from her participation in the University of Oxford's Map the System Competition. Her team's submission on the Overrepresentation of Indigenous Children in Canadian Child Welfare was chosen among top 8 in Canada in 2021. The exposure to Systems-Thinking widened Mizuki's perspective in just about every aspect of her life, being able to deeply analyze each challenge and situation. Alongside her role at the Centre, Mizuki serves as Map the System Campus Coordinator. Mizuki strongly hopes to continue to reach out to as many MRU students as possible to bring the benefits of Map the System experience for their educational journey
